About this blog

Welcome! My name is Leslie and I like to read lots of different stuff. I mostly write book reviews or about books and reading, but I may write about being a graduate student, being a college writing instructor, or about reading habits, studying, writing, and things like that.

The purpose of this blog is to make sure that I remain an honest reader – to keep me going, to help motivate myself, and to give me an excuse to read and write something other than an academic paper once in a while. According to my Goodreads page, if I have actually accounted for all the books I own and have not read, I have around 170Β 450 books TBR – to be read. Hopefully this blog will help me make a dent in that formidable list. If anything, this blog +bookstagram +booktube have caused me to add more books to my TBR.

Genres I might write about include, but are not limited to:

  • Literary fiction
  • Historical fiction
  • Young adult
  • Contemporary
  • Sci-fi/fantasy
  • Graphic novels
  • French lit (translated or not)
  • Translated lit

My degrees have focused on English and French literature and linguistics, so every now and then you might see something on those topics.

The reviews that I will do for this blog are 50% me trying to explain and/or figure out how I felt about a book, and 50% helping other people decide whether or not it’s worth their time. I have literature degrees, but this will be just as much personal and emotional assessment as it is formal.

If you have any questions, comments, or recommendations, feel free to drop me a line.

    1. Thanks so much for thinking of my blog! (I meant to respond to you sooner but forgot, sorry about that!) I was nominated for the Liebster award just a week or so before you nominated me, so I am going to wait a while before I do this again, if that’s ok. I’ll be sure to link you when I do it though. πŸ™‚

  1. I appreciate your website, as you’re the only other blogger I’ve found who reads and is in University in french! As it is my first language, I have posted a french book review on my page.
Anyways, just thought I’d say that you seem pretty awesome.

    1. Thanks! I don’t know if I will ever post a blog in French, but I definitely read a lot of books in French. It can be difficult to find information on foreign language books here in Colorado (except for Spanish), especially recently published ones, so if you have any recommendations let me know!
